"Do what you can't"

Kaito Sashihara Martinez is a Japanese/Spanish director and cinematographer based in Berlin.
His contrasting style of surrealistic cinema mixed with the slow paced neorealism cinema inspired by both his cultural backgrounds, poses a new outlook on multicultural perspectives. He attempts to seamlessly mix norms to challenge “cultural borders” that are created in between communities. In his attempts to do so, he puts in use surrealism’s shock value to illustrate the effects of exposing oneself to ideas and mannerisms outside of their comfort zone.
